In January I took the boys roller skating for the first time. I have never been good at things like that so never thought to take them. And I know how it feels to be the one that can't do it and have everyone else going in circles and whizzing by. So I was nervous for them, but they did pretty good. Ryan definately has Zach's coordination and picked it up fairly quickly. Tyler....well sorry, but he got my coordination! He tried regular skates then went to roller blades which seemed to help a little.
I had told them we would go back and tried last weekend, but it was a teen skate night. Tyler even had a friend coming with us and having a sleep over. Since that didn't work out I said maybe next weekend we could go. I love you kids automatically take "maybe" for yes we are going next Friday! And that's what happened. Tyler told his friend at school that if his mom said yes he could come skating with us. She works at the school so when she was done, they came by. I was more concerned with the fact my house was a wreck than being put on the spot to go skating! I said "Sure drop him off and what time do you need him home."
So off we went to go skating. Ryan got out there then came back and said he had forgotten what to do. I told him to just keep trying; it was his second time so he would have to practice. Before long he was out in the middle with the fast skaters having a ball. Tyler on the other hand had more trouble. For one he had the friend he invited and then a few others from school were there too. He was the only one that did not know how to skate. Finally the last 30 minutes he was off the wall and getting the hang of it. And his friends were so nice, they never made fun of him and when they played tag they came slowly by so he had a chance to tag them. What a great group of kids!
As I sat and watched (well Cody and I played some arcade games too) I realized my boys are growing up faster than I want them to. To see Ryan out in the middle getting faster each round and Tyler trying and recovering from each fall made me really proud of my boys! And no I don't have any pictures because I forgot my camera again!
