Zach's NCO academy graduation was last night. Earlier in the week he took the BIG test, did marching, another speech, an interpersonal (where he is the boss and has to meet with people in a mock situation and such) and one other thing I can't remember. Up to this point he had really good scores and the people in his class and even at work were putting pressure on him big time! He didn't do as well on the big test as he had hoped so thought for sure he had lost enough points to win distinguished graduate. They don't tell you before hand who earned it.
Out of 140 people Zach had the 9th highest scores! When they called Spirit Flight (that was his group) I was hoping his name would follow. Then they said from the 86the AMXS (I knew he had it!) Zachary Havel! He said it was funny because he had told himself he lost it and was even then they said 86th AMXS he still wasn't sure it was him. He was the only one in his group from the 86th, but when you are nervous guess those things don't register. His commander, 1st Sgt, Chief and other supervisors were really happy to see him get it since they had heard all along that he was doing really well. He didn't want to let them down either! And it put a big smile on his face for the rest of the night. I am really proud of him!
And to top the night off the biggest award, the John Levitow went to a guy in his class! Supposedly they were one of the flights that no one expected to win anything! It was a good night and so much fun and to hear the stories of how Zach was class enterntaiment everyday. He came up with thier commercial for Dr. PME (instead of Dr. Pepper) that they did for thir flight news cast. None of it surprised me and they all said everytime they see the 4 fans of freedom (a phrase he used in his speech about his career field) they won't be able to help thinking of good ole' Havel. I don't have pictures ready yet since we are off to Holland in an hour or so! I will take care of that when we get back!
