Our first stop was to see the Windmills! Kinderjivk is just outside Rotterdam and conveniently on our way to our final destination up by The Hague. There are 19 windmills that were built in the 1700's and the canals around them were dug by hand starting in the 1300's. The water would flood the fields and area so they dug them and then later built windmills to help control the water. There is a nice trail along the way and you can tour the inside of a windmill which Cody loved! He was free so he went twice. Zach and I had to take turns waiting with the dog. The weather was beautiful and it was a great start to our adventure!
