Cody's first big boy bike!

Zach decided it was time for Cody to get a real bike and had originally thought he would start him on Ryan's old one. He went to the BX for training wheels and the package said for 12-20 inch bikes. I said well you realize Ryan and Tyler both started on a 12 or 14 inch not the probably 20 inch we had right now. so he was a little discouraged then found a 12 inch bike for $30! He bought it, put it together and realized I was right, Ryan's old bike would have been waaayyy to big! Cody had a bit of trouble at first. He is used to his big wheels type bike where you sit low and push your feet in front not down and around in a circle. Plus he has motor planning that I know was making it harder, but honestly it is good for him to have this bike....kind of like his own physical therapy at home. Cody does not like things on his head so we were very happy he put on the helmet we bought him. It came with elbow and knee pads which I thought were really cute. The way the sidewalks and such are made here caused a little bit of trouble for Cody as well. Lots of bumps! We took him down the street where it was a little more flat and he went a good 30 feet completely on his own. He definately lacks strength and like I mentioned the whole motor planning thing makes it harder for him to do things that other kids would pick up easily, but we are very proud of the progress he made and he stuck with it for close to an hour! So congratulations Cody! You are such an amazing little boy and cease to amaze us all doing things that we were told you would not do for a few more years!

You should be very proud of Cody! I don't even know how well the girls would do on a bike like this! :) Love Jody
