Nonnberg Abby and more Kapitalplatz

See that first picture! That is the fortress as we were on the walking trail, but again the Fortress was really neat so well worth the hike. You could spend hours wandering around it and have lunch! Anyway we started the hike down and took a turn to Nonnberg Abby. This is where Maria Von Trapp was going to become a nun at, but obviously that didn't work out. You can't go in much of it, just some of the garden areas becuase Nuns still live there. It was a nice quiet place and a much easier walk to get to. I don't know if we got a picture of the gate that in the movie the kids go to to find Maria after she leaves them.

And more pictures of Kapitalplatz, taking a break for ice cream and pretzels.....they were delicious! Ryan kept chasing the birds even though we repeatedly told him to stop. Luckily no one seemed to care and some even got a good chuckle watching Cody join in the mischief! I also didn't realize I forgot a picture of the boys inside the church. As you can see Tyler is so thrilled! When we stopped for ice cream there was no where to sit to get out of the sun so we sat on the curb. Well it just happened to be where all the carrigaes were passing. We felt more like an attraction at the point as everyone starred at us as they went by! At least none of the horses decided to relieve themselves as they passed us! It was fun to just sit and take it all in. The bustling of people, the sounds of a church choir singing, an accordian player in the square and the horses going by.
