What a tiring week! The side of my life not seen much......

I wish I could say thank goodness it's Friday, but unfortunately it doesn't really matter this week. I still have to get up early tomorrow so I can attend my Saturday class. Tyler and Ryan have games bright and early Saturday so I have to make sure everyone is prepared before I leave. Then of course with 9am church there is never any sleeping in on Sunday! So right now my hope is to get a nap on Sunday! It has been a very busy and tiring week. Cody has not done very well balancing the two preschools. Maybe I should back up a bit and give a glimpse of what most never see.

Monday Cody started the CDC part day preschool program so his schedule goes something like this.

Monday: drop off 9am at CDC, bus to LEMS (Landstuhl Elem Middle School) school at noon, picked up from LEMS at 3.

Tuesday: Home with me in morning, LEMS at 12:15

Wednesday: CDC from 9-1, home in afternoon

Thursday: speech therapy at 9:45 (leave house 9:15 get home at 11:15), LEMS at 12:15

Friday CDC at 9am, bus to LEMS at noon, picked up at 3.

It has been very hard for him to adjust to this schedule. He cries and whines all evening, the mornings he is home with me he cries and "Says I not go school" when it is time to get walking. He has been very clingy, if I leave the room he is running after me, often crying! If I sneak upstairs it is not long before I hear "mama no one play me" So this week has been very stressful. Tuesday we had open house so we left school at 3 just to turn around and go back at 4. Wednesday was his IEP meeting so instead of the afternoon at home, we went to the school for the meeting. He's just a mess!

He is also not sleeping since the smoke detector issue we had the week before school started. Every night he says "I sleep you mama" so we fight a battle. He usually gives in and says he will sleep on Ryan's bottom bunk, the bed he NEVER slept in when we lived in the apartment. If he does fall asleep and we put him in his bed he wakes up around 1 or 2 screaming mamma. Usually the only way to get him back asleep is to move him to the bottom bunk. Even then he will wake up screaming mama a few more times. It averages about 4 times a night we do this! So I have decided to put him back on melatonin to see if we can't get his routine back and we worked so hard for.

It is so hard to understand why a smoke detector going off one night by accident has stopped and actually sent Cody backwards in his progress with sleeping. He often walks in the house and stares at the detectors and says "mama scary". It is so hard to not be able to help him understand it is okay, it was a fluke deal and things are fine now. As we appraoched the house after school yesterday I could hear the dreaded high pitched sound and told Ryan to run ahead and make sure it was not our smoke detectors. I had to make sure Cody did not walk into the house if they were malfunctioning again! It was the from the apartment building across the street so we were in the clear!

I sure hope that next week Cody is handling things better. The school is preparing a calendar for him. We think he needs to see the schedule, but we won't want it to be too detailed since he has really gotten past that. Well Cody has discovered we are out of toaster waffles......definately not good! So I will end this for now and go deal with his meltdown and assure him I will get more today when I am out. After all Zach graciously volunteered for team snacks tomorrow so if the commisary wasn't on my list of things to do, it is now!

He will adjust Marie... It just takes alot for kids his age to adjust. But from working with and my degree being in special needs, it is really good for him to do both... but as a Mom I realize that has to be so hard for you! I hope it gets better for both you and Cody :)

Wow, is it a full moon this week? It seems like lots of Moms have been having 'witching' issues. Now that I think about it...it's almost here! Weird!

Getting used to new schedules are so hard. I am sorry that you have had a rough week. I hope that you get some more sleep this next week. You are my HERO Marie!
