Picking corn and digging for potatoes!
Friday was the first field trip of the year for Cody. There wasn't a huge turnout of kids, but we had fun with the ones that were able to make it. We went to the sunshine farm that is not far from Landstuhl. The farmer lets the kids come every year and loves it. This trip was for potatoes and corn. The kids had a blast! The corn was a little hard so adults had to help. Eventually the boys decided throwing rocks in a puddle was way more fun! So we moved on to digging for potatoes. The farmer got them started by raking an area of dirt and what apeared! Potatoes! The kids were amazed and started grabbing what they could find. Because there are roughly 19 kids they had to get lots of potatoes! Next we walked up the road to see some farm animals. He first let us see some baby cows that were just a few weeks old. My pictures didn't come out too good in that area. It was kind of dark and the flies were all over! We were running out of time so decided we needed to move on and what did the kids find next.....a tractor of course! We put each one up in the tractor for a picture and soon realized the tractors were more fun than the animals at that point. So we went in search of another tractor. We will be going back to the farm in October so the kids will get a chance to pick pumpkins and see more of the animals....and probably more tractors!
